Discover the Best of Brys Estate Vineyard and Winery
The Story of Brys Estate Vineyard and Winery
While visiting Napa Valley in 1975, Walt and Eileen Brys knew immediately they wanted to be winemakers. Now, they didn’t immediately become winemakers. For 25 years Walt and Eileen worked, raised their family and then retired in Florida. Life was good but they still felt like something was missing and they were ready for a new project. Fast forward to 2001 and they purchased a plot of beautiful land on Old Mission Peninsula, and the rest is history. Hard work, determination and Northern Michigan’s rich soil came together beautifully and now over 40 years after that dream was sparked we have the gorgeous Brys Estate Vineyard and Winery. Brys Estate promises quality, focuses on being traditional yet unconventional, and most importantly they welcome everyone. They say “We put our own name on the bottle because we believe deeply in what’s inside” and trust us, what’s inside is delicious! Today they are booming and winning medal after medal for their outrageously good wines.
The Wine at Brys Estate
We believe Brys Estate has something for everyone! Currently, they have over 15 wines for you to try in their tasting room. Our current favorites are the Signature Rose, Cabernet France, Cab/Merlot, and of course their famous, Pinot Noir Riesling.
The Pinot Noir Riesling is the wine they use to make their famous Frosé but it’s also famous and wonderful on its own! It’s so good that they also it the Porch Pounder!
The Tasting Room at Brys Estate
Their tasting room and vineyards are located just 25 minutes from downtown Traverse City.
They offer “Progressive Wine Tasting” and take you through their facility and educate you on their wine process all while tasting their wine. They are the only winery who does this and it’s definitely something you’ll want to check out. (other wineries offer this but only if you call ahead for private tastings)
During this tasting, you’ll even have the chance to see their Cask Room. These are French oak casks and each cask holds up to 980 gallons of red wine. That breaks down to 4,700 bottles of wine in each cask!
The Deck and Sky Bar at Brys Estate
The Deck and Sky Bar have become one of the most popular stops on our wine tours. They have gorgeous views, great drinks, and even great food! Their deck is also perfect for gorgeous photo opportunities.
It is also where you can purchase their frosé in the summertime!
Visiting during our colder fall months and missed the Frosé? No worries, ask for their warm spiked cider it is just as delicious!
Their charcuterie board is definitely one of the best in the area and they also have awesome hummus.
If the deck is too crowded or you are looking for somewhere else to enjoy your glass of wine you can head out to their front yard where you can partake in a game of cornhole, bocce ball or just relax in their adirondack chairs!
The Secret Garden at Brys Estate
As if you needed another reason to visit Brys Estate, they also have their secret garden! It is open April-November and is home to beautiful flowers, fruit, and plants. It’s most famous for its 7,000 lavender plants. They take this lavender and make great soaps and lotions and sell them in their store along with many other goodies.
The Lavender typically blooms mid to late July and is done by the first week of August!
