So Many Ways to Get Into the Christmas Spirit!

Before you know it, the temps will drop and Traverse City is going to look like a majestic snow globe. Resplendent in a blanket of white snow, there are few places in the world quite as magical as Traverse City around Christmas. Even the most Scrooge-like people among us can’t resist getting into the spirit of the season after a wine or beer tour when surrounded by Christmas lights and ugly sweaters.

Here is just a snapshot of some of the events going at Northern Michigan wineries, breweries, and restaurants during the month of December. There’s so much to do and see this time of year, and we hope to see you out and enjoying the Christmas season.

Cannonball Wine Dinner at Olives and Wine – December 7

Olives and Wine, located on Front Street in downtown Traverse City, is hosting a wine dinner from 7-9pm on December 7th. They’ve invited their friends from Cannonball Wine Company to bring some of their best selections for an evening of excellent food and delicious wine. Guests will be able to purchase wine at a reduced rate after the tasting has completed. If you have wine lovers in your life, this is the perfect opportunity to pick up some wine to put under the tree!

Ugly Sweater Get-Together at Bonobo Winery – December 17th

You know you have one. It was a gift from a Great Aunt with poor eyesight, but we can’t bring ourselves to throw it away. Bonobo is giving you an opportunity to wear your cotton-based abomination in public and with pride. From 6-8pm on the 17th, you and your friends can rep your ugly sweaters and sip some wine. Live music will be accompanied by small plates; that is, of course, if you can still manage to have an appetite while being surrounded by an assortment of grotesque, dead-eyed reindeer sweaters.

Oro de Calabaza Grand Release at Jolly Pumpkin – December 17th

It’s a Christmas miracle! The fine folks at Jolly Pumpkin are getting into the gift-giving spirit by giving Oro de Calabaza enthusiasts two (two!) different blends on the award-winning Franco-Belgian style ale. Oro is a Northern Michigan delicacy, and as far as beer goes, it’s the pride of Old Mission Peninsula. Head on out to Jolly Pumpkin on the 17th to pick up a bottle or three of these rare blends. There’s really not a better Christmas gift you could give yourself, if you ask me.

12 Beers of Christmas at 7 Monks – December 22nd

Starting at 3pm, 7 Monks will be offering up a host of ales and winter warmers that are crafted specifically to get you and yours in the Christmas spirit.
