Traverse City Breweries: Hop Lot Brewing Co.
Leelanau’s Prized Brewery
Located just a short drive north of Traverse City in Suttons Bay, Hop Lot Brewing Co. is a unique venue that should be added to any Leelanau-centric wine or brewery tour. Why? Because they’ve created a beer-drinkers paradise in “The County”, which is otherwise almost entirely dominated by wineries. Started by two brothers, Drew and Steve Lutke, Hop Lot stands tall among destination breweries in Northern Michigan.
A Beer Garden to Behold
Leelanau County is a stunning, picturesque setting of greens and blues that makes visitors feel like they’re driving through one enormous postcard. The green thumb that blessed Leelanau County with forests and lakes also seemingly went so far as to bless Hop Lot with a hop garden. Hop Lot also maintains an eclectic beer garden with a vast array of beers on tap. Hop Lot recently announced that they’ll also be carrying Tandem Ciders, ensuring that there is a beverage on hand for almost every type of pallet. To that point, Hop Lot is quick to note that not all of their beers are overly hoppy. A quick glance at their listings of on tap beers proves that there is always plenty of variety in the beer garden to to choose from.
Live Music from Northern Michigan’s Best
When you’re scheduling your wine or beer tour, be sure to keep a watchful eye on Hop Lot’s events page. Their line-up of live musicians is incredible! We see plenty of live musicians on our tours, but Hop Lot consistently has some of the best local talent around. Groups like Oh Brother Big Sister, Hot ‘N Bothered, and Drew Hale, are the pride of the Northern Michigan music scene, and enjoy strong local followings. These musicians would make any Leelanau wine and beer tour extremely special for all fortunate to have a tasty brew and listen to true Northern Michigan tunes.
