Just 4 miles north of Traverse City you’ll find one of the first wineries you can hit driving up the Old Mission Peninsula. Bruce and Kathleen Hawthorne and their dog Belle started Hawthorne Vineyards just six years ago on the passion for wine and way to share its myriad virtue. Not only is the tasting room one of just two wineries that offer views of both East and West Bay but they have a gorgeous road just off of Center Road that brings you right through the vineyards! It is such a beautiful drive ultimately reaching the tasting room that is secluded and perched on top of a small hilltop.
The Tasting Room at Hawthorne Vineyards
Don’t be fooled by its quaint size there are over 15 wines to try here and inside there are gorgeous bay view windows on both sides giving you an intimate and enjoyable wine tasting experience.

Once you are done with your tasting grab a glass or two and head out to their patio to enjoy the views of the bays.
The Wine at Hawthorne Vineyards
As we mentioned earlier Hawthorne has nearly 20 wines for you to try and a few are even award winning! Our current favorites at Hawthorne Vineyards are the Barrel Reserve Auxerrois (Jefferson Cup Winner 2015), Pinot Blanc (Silver Medal MI Wine Competition), Delish (Gold Medal Taster Guild International Competition and also a best-seller), Bruce’s Blend Pinot Noir and their Cabernet Franc Merlot (Gold Medal 2017 Taster Guild International Competition) They currently have 26 acres dedicated to their grapes but plan to add more soon so look out for new wines in the near future.

How Do I get to Hawthorne Vineyards?
Here is the best part! Don’t worry about driving up to the tasting room, call us! We will pick you up from your Traverse City area hotel or rental, 7 days a week. Then we will drive you up to Hawthorne Vineyards to enjoy their wonderful wine and tasting room.
