Traverse City Events: Traverse City Beer Week

The Best TC Beer, All Week Long

It’s almost time for one of the most anticipated events in Traverse City each fall. From November 11-17, Traverse City celebrates beer unlike any other city can. Almost every bar, brewery, and restaurant in town gets in on the act by putting their best beer forward for everyone to try.

If you’re looking for a good excuse to come up north to check out our brewery scene, there’s really not a better time!

Where Your Traverse City Brew Tour Should Go

With so many places taking part in beer week’s festivities, it can be tough to know where to go. To help you pick the best spots for your tour, we have a put together a few of our favorite beer stops in downtown Traverse City for you to consider for your tour.

Rare Bird Brew Pub: We absolutely love Rare Bird. Their head brewer, Tina Shuett, is simply a genius when it comes to making unique, delicious brews. Rare Bird makes a beer for almost every taste preference, and also feature the best beer selection from other Michigan breweries like Short’s Founders, Black Rock Brewing, and Lake Ann Brewing Co. Their space is really cool, with heavy, industrial-style wood booths, tables, and floors. They also do a ton to help local non-profits with their “Do Good” tap nights raising money for groups like Norte Youth Cycling, Traverse Area Recreational Trails and more.

The Workshop Brewing Company: A true Northern Michigan gem, with Soviet-style marketing, The Workshop is one of my personal favorite stops in Traverse City. Their beer is simply perfection. Their best beers on tap are the Ball Peen, an ale, and the Ten-Pound Sledge, an English style IPA. They have some hearty, delicious dishes that pair extremely well with their beer selection as well, so add this stop to your tour early to avoid filling up on beer before you get to enjoy bacon-wrapped dates and other treats.

Right Brain Brewery: An expansive space makes Right Brain a great addition to any tour, especially if you’re bringing a big crew with you. With plenty of room and plenty of beer choices, this is bound to be one of your favorite stops. The must-try beers here? I really dig IPAs, and the Dead Kettle IPA is one of the better ones I’ve ever tried. For dark beer enthusiasts, the CEO Stout is, of course, the legendary classic at Right Brain and is well known across the state. One last recommendation is the Willpower Pale Ale, which is one of the most popular brews among our guests when we stop at Right Brain.

The Filling Station: Easily the best place for beer and pizza in Traverse City, The Filling Station would be an excellent addition to your Traverse City Beer Week tour. If the weather cooperates, you can take your party outside on their heated patio to take in the view of Boardman Lake, Hull Park, the Community Garden and the beautiful woods surrounding the lake in the distance. Even if  you’re indoors, you’ll have some delicious brews to enjoy. Namely, the Walla Wall IPA is off the charts, while the Jacktown Mocha Stout is a show stopper for all dark beer fans.

So Many Options, One Traverse City Beer Tour

Don’t forget these others for Traverse City Beer Week. Celebrating Beer Week without seeing the guys and gals at Jolly Pumpkin and North Peak, just to name a few, would be a big mistake. Luckily for you, our experienced drivers can help you fit as many stops as you’d like into your Private Tour. To get you and your gang into the vehicle of your choice, be sure to book your tour soon to avoid being left out.
