Traverse City Wine and Live Music – A Perfect Pairing!

Live Music and Wine in Traverse City in September

One of the best parts of our tours is getting to stop in at our favorite Northern Michigan wineries and hearing some of the best local musical talents in the area. Glancing over the various live music events at Traverse City wineries and breweries in September, it looks as if we’re going to be especially fortunate as the leaves begin to turn!

Take a look at five excellent opportunities to enjoy a glass of wine and some excellent tunes on your Traverse City wine and beer tour this month!

Zak Bunce at Left Foot Charley – 9/2 6-8pm

I first heard Zak play back at the old Northern Naturals Cider House last winter at their weekly open mic night. While they always had some incredible local talent, Zak’s incredible talent made everyone in the joint order another round and sit through his set. Incredibly talented, with a wide range of song selections, Zak is an entertainer through and through. His style and talent fit Left Foot Charley‘s atmosphere perfectly, and this is a gig we’re going to hit on a tour tomorrow night come Hell or high water.

Dags and Timmah! at 45 North Winery – 9/4 3-6pm

Dags and Timmah is a duo who specialize in both original and British classic rock covers that create a positive buzz at any venue they entertain. The band consists of Jim Dagwell and Timothy Galante, and the guys have been busy all summer throughout Northern Michigan entertaining guests at breweries and wineries. 45 North‘s laid back, outgoing atmosphere, as well as the incredible Leelanau countryside, is a perfect match for Jim and Tim’s musical and entertaining style.

Drew Hale at Hop Lot Brewing Co. – 9/9 6-9pm

Drew Hale was one of the highlights at the 2015 TEDxTraverse City event last May, and his voice in one of the most unique and well-recognized in Northern Michigan. In short, Drew can simply do it all. He describes his music as a modern blend of country and indie rock, but he has a depth of soul and classic blues to his style that even the biggest music novice will easily detect. I was fortunate to watch Drew perform in an air-conditioned theatre last spring, but I imagine his performance outdoors, complete with beer and dinner, is going to be all the more special at Hop Lot on the 9th.

Larry Perkins at Hawthorne Vineyards – 9/11 3-5pm

Larry is an incredibly experienced and well-traveled singer and songwriter. With over 40 years of experience, he’s developed a reputation for being able to create a perfect mix of original songs and classic rock favorites in acoustic form that will compliment your wine tasting exquisitely. If you’ve never made it over to Hawthorne Vineyards, the eleventh would be a perfect time to do so!

Oh Brother Big Sister at Bonobo Winery – 9/16 6-8pm

This brother and sister duo from Frederic, MI are one of my most favorite local musical acts! I’ve been able to see them perform on multiple occasions, and each time, they’ve delivered a unique and incredible performance. Penny and Radel have a stage presence of artists many years their senior, but deliver their music with a freshness and enthusiasm that rewards listeners for hours on end. Bonobo is sure to roll out the red carpet treatment for the duo, and the spectacular view of West Bay will make this a worthy addition to your Old Mission Peninsula wine tour on 9/16.

There are plenty of other incredible artists playing in the area this month that we haven’t seen yet. Who should we be keeping our eye out for? We’d love to hear about the next Big Thing now before they get famous.
