WATERFIRE VINEYARDS IS A MUST
Just a few miles North of Elk Rapids and a bit off the beaten path is an adorable and wonderful vineyard called WaterFire Vineyards located in Kewadin, MI. Where to begin with WaterFire Vineyards. We love their ambiance, their adorable 700 square foot tasting room, their cute vineyard dog, Finley, views of the vines and a marsh just outside the tasting room, vintage yellow velvet chairs and couch, passionate and hands-on owners and of course their wine!
The Wines at Waterfire Vineyards
We love the wine at Waterfire Vineyards! It’s awesome to see how much they’ve grown in just a few short years. They started with just 9 acres of grapes but each year are planting more and more vines and we can’t wait to see them grow even more in the upcoming years. Our personal favorites were the Aged Riesling and Pinot Noir, but there wasn’t a wine we tried that we didn’t enjoy.
Enjoy a tasting at the bar inside and then take a glass out the patio and enjoy the view!
The Airbnb at WaterFire Vineyards
Attached to the tasting room is a one bedroom one bath with a small kitchen room that is available to rent! They advertise it as a vineyard retreat and we couldn’t agree more. Enjoy the peaceful countryside of Kewadin and be just steps away from some incredible wine!
Why the name WateFire Vineyards?
We love this story owners Mike and Chantal share about naming their vineyard, “We went through a lot of different names. It’s a running joke among our friends because we “officially” changed the name a half-dozen times. But none of them seemed to stick. We wanted the location to be a part of the name but we wanted to leave geographical names out of it, which was tricky. “Torch Lake Vineyards” didn’t seem unique enough. So instead of the “Torch” and the “Lake,” we have the “Water” and the “Fire.” We were drawn to the elegance of the combination and the many design possibilities the name offered. We developed the name, the logo and the label entirely ourselves—and we see that as a testament to how well the name fits us and our wines.”

How Do I get to WaterFire Vineyards?
Here is the best part! Don’t worry about driving the 40 minutes from Traverse City, call us! We will pick you up from your Traverse City area hotel or rental 7 days a week. Then we will drive you up to Kewadin to enjoy WaterFire Vineyards!
